What to Expect

Walking

This walking tour is 1.5 miles long. It is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes and are have the physical ability to walk and stand for 1.5 - 2 hours.

Weather

Welcome to London! The weather is unpredictable and this tour will go ahead rain or shine unless there is severe weather in which case we will notify attendees asap.

Buildings

We will be seeing many buildings from the exterior however this tour does not include tickets to enter any buildings.

How long is the tour?
The Stones of Power tour lasts around 1.5 - 2 hours and covers approximately 1.5 miles at a relaxed walking pace.

Where does the tour start and end?
The tour begins at Westminster Abbey and concludes at Buckingham Palace. Directions will be provided upon booking.

What should I bring?
We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and dressing for the weather, as the tour takes place entirely outdoors. A small bottle of water and a camera are also useful, as there will be plenty of opportunities for photos. Umbrellas or raincoats are advised in case of rain.

Will we go inside the buildings?
No, this tour focuses on the exteriors of Westminster’s most iconic landmarks. You’ll discover their history, symbolism, and design details from an architect’s perspective.

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, advance booking is required as group sizes are kept small to ensure a high-quality experience.

Is the tour suitable for children?
Children are welcome if accompanied by an adult, but please note the content is primarily designed for adults with an interest in architecture, history, and culture.

What happens in bad weather?
Tours run rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. In the case of extreme conditions, we will notify you of any changes.

What days is the tour available?
Tours are offered on select days throughout the week. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, the tour is timed to finish in time for guests who wish to see the Changing of the Guard on their own afterward.

Can I see the Changing of the Guard as part of the tour?

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, the tour is timed to finish in time for guests who wish to watch the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace on their own. Your guide will provide background information about the ceremony, its history, and its symbolism during the walk, so you can better appreciate the event. Please note, however, that the ceremony is organised by the British Army and may occasionally be altered, canceled, or rescheduled at short notice. As this is outside of our control, we cannot guarantee that it will always take place.

How big are the groups?
Group sizes are kept small, usually no more than 8 participants, to allow for conversation and questions.

Is the tour accessible?
The route is mostly flat and step-free, but please let us know in advance if you have specific accessibility needs so we can do our best to accommodate you.

All tours are led by Samantha G., a registered architect with over 10 years of international experience at world-renowned studios, and a Westminster local.
